Writer's Workshop:
The students finished presenting their persuasive essays this week. They also started working on biographies this week. They will continue to work on the biography packet next week. The following week they will create a google slide show or glogster presentation with their information. They seem really excited about this project and I can't wait to read their biographies.

Writer's Workshop:
This week the students looked up research to support their arguments. We also discussed the importance of writing the information in their own words to avoid plagiarism. They started their outline for their essay using a graphic organizer to help them organize their research. I also taught them how to write command sentences. They will use these in their essays to make them more effective.
Next week we will continue to finish our rough drafts. They will type their final drafts on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday they will read their essays aloud to the class.

Next week we will talk about plagiarism and the importance of using your own words. We will also discuss how to write command sentences. Finally, they will start their rough drafts.
